Welcome to Warehouse Compare!
Warehouse Compare is a free service which allows visitors to upload and
search for the prices of products at their local BJ's, Costco, and Sam's
Club stores. The search results return the price of the item, but more
importantly the price per unit for every item is shown, so you can quickly
make price comparisons with similar items at your other local stores. Now
you'll know if the 5 gallon bucket of cheese spread, 200,000 Q-tips, and
the 25 pack of hair dye you bought at your warehouse club store were a good
deal when compared to the prices at your other local stores. In a more
realistic scenario, if you happen to see a product on sale while shopping at
your local grocery store, you can whip out you handy iPhone (or other web
enabled device) and quickly ascertain if it is a better deal to purchase the
item at the grocery store or wait to buy it on your next visit to your local
warehouse club store.
How to get started:
- Select the
warehouse club where you shop.
- Search for
items to compare prices with similar items you find at other stores.
- Update this
site with the prices and descriptions of items you purchase at your
warehouse club, so they can be shared with other people.
Read the about
page for more information.

The NY Times recently reported that Costco is now testing ground beef sold at its warehouse stores for E.Coli. Later this summer, Costco will demand that their suppliers of the trimmings to do their own testing for E.Coli to keep its consumers safe and healthy. The ground beef testing is in addition to the requirement Costco made of its suppliers last month of bagged product including apple slices, salad greens and mixes, and baby carrots, to test for a broad range of E. coli. Greenpeace, USA announced that Costco is changing their seafood policy. There are 12 species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species list (a.k.a. Red List) that Costco has announced that they will no longer sell until they are certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The MSC is a certification and eco-labeling program for sustainable seafood. All items which meet their certification have the blue MSC ego label on them.
The species affected are: Atlantic cod, Atlantic halibut, Chilean sea bass, Greenland halibut, Grouper, Monkfish, Orange Roughy, Redfish, Shark, Skates and rays, Swordfish, and Bluefin tuna.
In addition, Costco will partner with World Wildlife Fund to examine their remaining wild-caught species.
The warehouse club stores often have free sample give aways on their websites. It is a great way to try out their products before buying in bulk. Costco is offering free samples on Kirkland Signature Supreme Diapers. Size 3 through size 6 are availble. Click here to order your sample.
10.1 inch screen, dual core processor, latest edititon Android operating system, Verizon LTE 4G, HDMI and USB connectivity…lots to like in the XOOM.
There’s much speculation/rumor that the latest tablet will sold at Costco for $100 less than the competitors price of $799, and that Costco will be offering a rebate for the minimum $35 one month activation fee.
More speculation/rumor over at everythingandroid and ubergizmo.
We’ll see if the rumors hold true, but regardless, with Costco’s excellent return policy, anyone interested in the XOOM should consider purchasing it at Costco.
Not sure what to do with the 8 lbs of chicken, 2 lbs of salmon, or 3 lbs of brisket you just brought home? I have a chest freezer so unless I am cooking for a big crowd, I divide the food into smaller packages and freeze them. This works great for meat, cheese, bagels, and fish. I am always looking for new recipes to try out with items I buy at my warehouse club store. A great resource for recipes is the warehouse clubs themselves.
Part 1: Costco. Costco gives away their recipe book every Black Friday. These recipe books features some of the brands they carry in their store. If you do not want to wait until after Thanksgiving, you can also look online at over 1,600 recipes. One of my favorite recipes is Chicken Monterey which I have nicknamed Ketchup Chicken. I cube the chicken before making it and use 2 fresh tomatoes for the topping. It tastes wonderful. In addition to the recipe book, Costco also features recipes in their Costco Connection newsletter. In this month’s edition they have a recipe for Moroccan Lamp and Lemon Tagine which looks delicious.
Happy recipe searching everybody!
I’m testing a new feature for searching the price lists. If you type ‘List All’ in the search box, while searching by Description, you’ll see a price list of all the items we have stored for your local warehouse club store.
Don’t see anything? Get things started by adding the price data for the things you just bought at your warehouse club, and tell your neighbors to add the prices of the things they just bought too!
Many of the warehouse club stores have gas stations for their members. Typically, these gas stations offer gas at few cents cheaper per gallon than other local gas stations. To compare the price of gasoline at your local gas stations, visit gasbuddy.com. The gas itself is the same quality as the mainstream gas stations (BP, QuikTrip, Cheveron, etc). The only difference is the additives each company adds to the gas. The warehouse clubs keep the gas prices low to help get customers in their door.
If you shop Costco and use their Costco American Express* card, you get 3% cash back on gas purchases up to $3,000 and 1% thereafter.
Those shopping at BJ’s gas stations can earn 2% with their BJ’s Visa card*.
Sam’s Club members can receive up to 2% cash back with their Sam’s Discover card*.
*Visit the warehouse club’s websites to review terms and conditions for their credit cards.
